Teaming Up In The Name of Science Education

Weaving connections through a partnership with BPEF & LBNL.

We are thrilled to announce that we've received a matching gift of our UC Chancellor's Fund Partnership grant from the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab!  The Laboratory Government and Community Relations Representative, Armando Viramontes, presented the generous $5,000 check to CRS Executive Director, Teresa Barnett, during a BASIS volunteer classroom visit at a Berkeley Unified School District elementary school.

While BASIS volunteers from the Sarpong Lab team taught first-graders about the states of matter, Armando, Teresa, and Berkeley Public Education Foundation Executive Director, Molly Fraker, were able to rotate through the lesson's stations on the properties of solids, liquids, and gasses.

CRS truly values having the community connections with the public schools, the Cal campus, and the government lab.  Our mission to weave connections between individual teacher needs and the wealth of science resources in the Bay Area comes to life through this partnership.

Thank you to LBNL, BPEF, and the UC Chancellor's Fund!
