April 2023
Spring sunshine means it’s time to bring the joy of science festivals to school sites and community events! Throughout April and May, CRS will bring teams of enthusiastic and diverse scientists to share explorations of DNA, bubble-ology, catapults, seed germination, and much more with thousands of students and families. From school science fairs to UC Berkeley’s Cal Day celebration, CRS teams will be shining some light on fun, engaging activities to help kids build an understanding of the world around them.
As we close in on the finish line of the 2022-23 school year, Bay Area Scientists Inspiring Students (BASIS) teams have led lessons in nearly 500 classrooms across the East Bay. They’ve shared about wastewater treatment, magnets, vision science, ocean cleanups, and dozens of real-world topics.
Young learners delight in meeting and sharing their ideas with scientists and engineers. Teachers share with us that the visits have a lasting impact, inspiring students to imagine their own futures in science. One teacher wrote us:
“Thank you again for a GREAT presentation today. My students were super engaged. I also loved that my students got to see three female scientists rocking the science world!”
