Ways to Share Your Science
Delight K-6 students as you lead amazing, engaging science lessons in East Bay schools through our Bay Area Scientists Inspiring Students (BASIS) program.
Give teachers and students the opportunity to interact with real-life scientists and engineers, changing students' perceptions of who scientists are and what they do.
CRS will train your team to communicate your research, conduct experiments, and share your love of science with the next generation!
- 45-60 minute hands-on lessons, Grades K-6
- Choose to visit one classroom per month or at the frequency that works best for you.
- Your team(s) can consist of 1-6 colleagues per lesson
Become a vital part of the science teaching experience! With regular visits to the same classroom.
Over the course of your visits, you will have the opportunity to share about your science journey and assist students in multiple science experiments.
CRS will train your team to communicate your research, conduct experiments, and share your love of science with the next generation!
- 4-6 weekly sessions with the same class of students for Grades K-7
- Your team(s) can consist of 1-6 colleagues per series of lessons
Lead a table at one of our “Day of Science” Science Festivals. We set up 3-4 tables of activities that students rotate through. Each table teams presents simple, fun science activities for multiple class groups of students throughout the school day.
Days of Science are a great option for a staff day of service.
CRS will train your team to be succesful in leading these table top activities.
- Sessions last one whole school day, from 8:30-3:00 and can be broken into multiple shifts.
- Your team can consist of 6-20 colleagues per Day of Science (in one or more shifts during the day)
Support upcoming science lessons by organizing materials and delivering them to classrooms. We arrive with the basic materials, and the team organizes them into simple kits.
We maintain a “wishlist” on some common supply websites such that corporate partners can cover the materials. This can be a fun and relaxing way for staff to contribute to lessons, whether or not they also joining the teaching teams.
- 2-4 hour sessions, at your office building
