We are honored to recognize Kyle Wong, a 3rd Grade Teacher at Chabot Elementary in Oakland, as a Science Super Star!
He commented on the fact that his students look forward to science, especially hands-on activities. This past school year, they studied the patterns of motion through the use of two main phenomena: rolling cars that they built down ramps and the use of magnets to push and pull.
Before engaging in their experiments, Kyle offered background information through their textbook and online videos.
During the experiment, he noticed a lot of sharing and excitement. When constructing the cars, many kids took base ideas from cars they had seen in their lives, but create their own original designs. The took sketches to explain the processes of what occured when rolling their cars down the ramps they created.
Kyle noticed that after the experiment, his class was much more observant in general. (Their drawings also seemed much more detailed and scientific!)
