The Board of Directors of Community Resources for Science is saddened to announce the recent passing of Board Member Tony So. Long an advocate for broadening access to STEM education, Tony was a visionary in creating opportunities for K-12 students to ‘touch the stars’ by participating in experiments in space.
“Tony always had a sparkle in his eye when talking about space and science education,” said CRS Board President Alan Poon. “We will remember his enthusiasm, and his dedication for making science tangible and accessible for students.”
In addition to serving on the CRS Board, Tony was the CEO and co-founder of Magnitude.io, an education technology company that focuses on creating extraordinary STEM learning experiences, democratizing costly research, and connecting students from around the world to learn together in Space.
In recognition of Tony’s commitment to the CRS mission of empowering teachers serving schools in historically marginalized communities to activate TK-8th grade students’ curiosity about the world, the CRS Board of Directors has established a fund in Tony’s honor to continue his legacy of providing students opportunities to engage in space-related experiments and explorations.
CRS Vice President Anne Baranger added, "Tony was so upbeat and committed to students and children. I loved to hear him talk about his space experiments. We believe this gift in his memory will carry forward his vision to engage and inspire children to imagine their own futures in science.”
We are grateful for Tony's service with CRS and extend our deepest condolences to his family.
