PD: Explore the Recovery of Bay Area River Otter Populations
Using the New Understanding Global Change Website to Explore the Recovery of Bay Area River Otter Populations
Workshop Date: October 22, 2020
Grades 4-12 (adaptable for younger) Presented By: Jessica Bean, PhD, UGC Project Leader
The Understanding Global Change (UGC) Project from the UC Berkeley, Museum of Paleontology, has created a suite of online and interactive resources to support teaching and learning about climate change and Earth systems. UGC materials integrate teaching practices that incorporate modeling of phenomena to make student learning visible and support the use of systems thinking. In this workshop, teachers learned how to use these resources and use them to explore a recent, local phenomenon: the return of North American River Otters to Bay Area ponds, marshes and rivers. A Professional learning certificate was provided for all attendees for each session. This session counted as one hour towards the 10 hours required in the 1 optional CEU available for this series.Resources from this Workshop
