General Resources on the Next Generation Science Standards

The Next Generation Science Standards were developed based on the NRC’s Science Framework. This framework is available to purchase in paperback or download the PDF for free. The framework is in narrative form and served as the blueprint for the NGSS. It is an integral companion to the NGSS. Also worth checking out is the NSTA Reader’s Guide to A Framework for K-12 Science Education. Here are some additional resources to help you become comfortable with the NGSS.

California Science Teachers Association (CSTA) has a nice NGSS resources page with links to more resources
California Science Project two page Standards Overview. Includes where NGSS and Common Core overlap
The California Academy of Sciences has put together a collection of resources called NGSS Demystified. It is designed as a toolkit for training teachers, but that just means that there are great resources for you to learn about NGSS

Afterschool Alliance – Getting Started with the Next Generation Science Standards: A primer and resource guide for afterschool educators

NSTA has put together a collection of videos (including a few of those listed below and many others) that support teachers learning about NGSS in the elementary classroom.
BOZEMANSCIENCE has put together a collection of short videos on all three dimensions of the Next Generation Science Standards. These area great place to start digging into what NGSS might mean for your classroom.
