Advisory Council

The CRS Advisory Council is a forum to explore the issues and needs around science education and how Bay Area formal and informal organizations can work together to bring about positive transformation of science education.

The Council works towards improving local science education by sharing perspectives and creating recommendations for action and policy.

It's not hard to get kids excited about science - our challenge is getting teachers excited, and supported, about teaching science.

- Jennifer Sethasang, 4th Grade Teacher and Science Leader, OUSD

Members are able to generate perspectives about issues affecting local science education; coordinate with key educational organizations and individuals; share current information about activities; and generate recommendations and action ideas. Community Resources for Science organizes the biannual meetings, once in the Spring and once in the Fall.  We strive to bring together representatives from K-8 Education: teachers, administration, principals; Informal Education and Professional Development Organizations: Lawrence Hall of Science, Chabot Space & Science Center, California Academy of Sciences, Exploratorium, etc.; University of California: faculty, administration; Scientist volunteers: Cal graduate students, Lawrence Berkeley Lab, Bayer Corporation; and Funders: selected key funders in local science education.
